New Plan By USPS May Lead To Mail Delays

Share

The U.S. Postal Service is proposing a new structure for its post offices in Illinois that could lead to delays in mail delivery.  The plan will turn 58 processing and distribution centers in smaller Illinois communities into local mail processing centers.  The plan would redirect packages and unprocessed mail in Springfield and other central Illinois communities to the nearest distribution center in St. Louis.  Illinois lawmakers — including Congresswomen Nikki Budzinski and Mary Miller — have written Postmaster Louis DeJoy about their opposition to the plan unless they’re shown it will improve delivery.
