Western Illinois football coach Joe Davis announced a handful of updates to his coaching staff this week as the Leatherneck group continues to build toward the season opener at Northern Illinois on August 31.

The most significant update is Caleb Bonner moving from graduate assistant to a full-time coaching position, taking over the outside linebacker duties. Bonner has been on staff since 2023, working with the defensive backs as a graduate assistant. Before coming to Western Illinois, Bonner played at Arkansas State from 2017-2021.

Also taking on an additional role is Josh Caraway. Caraway, who was named special teams coordinator over the winter, will also work with tight ends and serve as Western Illinois’ recruiting coordinator.

Davis also added new graduate assistants to the staff with Marvin Ransom taking over as video coordinator and offensive quality control graduate assistant, Jon Perry serving as defensive graduate assistant, Andrew Feiertag working with the offensive line as a graduate assistant and Zach Trevino working with offensive quality control and quarterbacks.
