The IRS’s free tax filing program will be available nationwide in 2025. The agency is expanding its free program Direct File, the Treasury Department announced. More than 140-thousand users filed using the program in the 2024 season, saving an estimated five-point-six-million-dollars in tax preparation fees. It was available to a limited number of taxpayers in 12 states this year.
