September is National Recovery Month for Substance Use and Suicide Prevention Month, shares Eagle View Community Health System Marketing Director Sabrina Wilson:

“With us having a substance use program and mental health program and with mental health in our area being huge anyway in trying to stop the stigma and talk about it. I got all of this information from the American Foundation for Suicide prevention, and suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States. There is a national three-digit number that people can call, which is 988. You can call that if you need services immediately.”

Locally, to raise awareness Out of the Darkness Community Walks will take place in Galesburg on Saturday, September 14th at noon beginning at the Lake Storey Park Pavilion and in Macomb on Saturday, September 28th at 10 am at the Macomb City Hall.
