Georgia H. Madson, age 93, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 7:34 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born October 28, 1931 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, the daughter of Robert and Pauline (Strange) Watson. Georgia attended schools in Monmouth. On November 27, 1951, she married Chester “Chet” Madson in Macomb, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2001.

Georgia worked most of her career as a waitress in several local restaurants including Country Kitchen, Park-N-Eat, and Cottage Corner. She was know throughout the community for her cooking skills, notably her homemade pies and noodles. Georgia enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, cross-stitching, and paint by numbers. She was a longtime member of the Foursquare Gospel Church where she was the Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. Georgia played organ, piano, and was involved with the choir. Mostly, she loved her family.

Georgia is survived by one daughter, Marsha (Bradley) Stearns of Medora, Illinois; one sister, Carolyn Hillman of Monmouth, Illinois; one brother, Robert Watson of Monmouth, Illinois, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Donald Watson, one niece Debra Jane Watson, one nephew Wayne Donald Hillman, and her great-granddaughter, Raelyne Cheek.

A funeral service for Georgia Madson is planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Hope Fellowship Church of Greencastle, Indiana.
