Warren County Housing has recently received a grant to provide free transportation for all of their participants, explains Executive Director Hank Shimmin:

“The grant award is for free transportation for all of our participants; any of our residents that live at any of our properties, also including our housing choice voucher holders. This is made possible by the generosity of the Galesburg Community Foundation and the Hunger Collaborative. The collaboration includes Warren County Public Transportation and the Galesburg Transit. The transport throughout Warren County and then to and from other neighboring counties would include Knox County and Galesburg, Illinois, of course. With that part of the grant award, any of our participants can get free transportation to Galesburg so they can make doctor appointments, get medicines, shopping, and everything else.”

The transportation grant for Warren County Housing participants will be awarded up to three years, $25,000 each year for an allotted total of $75,000.
