Monmouth-Roseville Girls Basketball is wrapping up its last day of summer workouts under its new Head Coach, Don Luper. Before taking over the varsity squad this coming season, Luper was the Titans girls JV head coach for the past several years. He’s taking over for previous head coach, Scott Weber. Weber resigned after guiding the Titan girls to their second regional title in the past three seasons over the past winter. He won 144 games in just 7 years at Monmouth-Roseville. This summer, the Titans’ girls participated in some very competitive summer leagues around the area, in a schedule that included several class 3A and 4A schools. Coach Luper talks about his biggest takeaway from the summer.
The Titans held a record of 23 wins and 11 losses this past year and ended the season giving a state-ranked Deer Creek-Mackinaw squad all they could handle in a 41-38 sectional semifinal loss. Looking ahead to this winter, the Titans will have to replace two, 4-year starters in Tatianna Talivaa and Brianna Woodard.
