Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 17th, 2026:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior track and field athlete, Lars Bergren. Lars brought home a pair of medals from the Three Rivers Athletic Conference’s championship meet in Erie. He placed 4th in the 300 meter hurdle race and 7th in the 100 meter dash. Earlier in the week, Lars earned a pair of top-4 finishes, placing 3rd in the 300 hurdles and 4th in the 100 meter in the Galva Invitational.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is freshman girls track and field athlete, Ada Kunkle. At the class 1A sectional meet, Ada was a part of three relay teams that qualified for the IHSA State Finals in Charleston and also tied for the 7th highest leap in the high jump event. She was on the 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800 teams. Ada’s 4×800 team ran a new school record time in the sectional meet, finishing in 10:27.46.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior softball player, Miley Stimpson. The softball squad ran off six wins last week, including two over state ranked 2A and 4A teams, and Miley was a huge part of it. She went 8-for-19 at the plate, with 7 rbis and 2 doubles. Miley was even better in the pitching circle, getting 4 wins, giving up only 4 earned runs in 27 innings, with 37 strikeouts.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore baseball player, Grady Hickey. Grady had 2 hits in each of the 4 games the Silver Streaks played. He went 8-for-14 for the week, scoring 3 runs, driving in 3 and pounding out a pair of doubles. Grady leads the team in batting average and stolen bases for the season.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Alex Foutch. Alex’s arm and bat played a big role in a pair of wins last week. At the plate, he was 5-for-11, scoring 4 runs with a pair doubles. On the pitching mound, Alex picked up a win in two starts, throwing 7 total innings, giving up only 1 earned run with 7 strikeouts.
