We will once again have two games on Prairieland Media Sports tonight, with United still searching for their first win and Monmouth-Roseville looking to get back to .500 in Week 6.
Starting with the United Red Storm, they will look to break into the win column as they hit the road to take on Rushville-Industry.
United fell to 0-5 last week after a tough 40-0 loss to Abingdon-Avon. After playing several close games through the first part of the season, the Red Storm have struggled to find that same rhythm over the last couple weeks.
Despite the 0-5 start, United still has plenty to play for with four games remaining in the regular season. Under the new IHSA playoff format, the Red Storm still have an opportunity to play their way into the postseason.
Head Coach Andrew Goodwin says his team is treating the final four games like a fresh start.
“We have this opportunity in front of us to say, okay, we’re, we’re not in the spot where we expected or thought we were going to be. We were really close at points in times. How do we bounce back? And so we’ve taken the approach of, hey, this is season number two for us. We have to look into it, clean slate. Burn the schedule on Monday. So we’re, we’re zero and zero right now. That’s the way we’re looking at it. We’re just focused on these next four, especially this week, and just going out proving what we can do.”
Now the attention turns to a Rushville-Industry squad that is also searching for their first win at 0-5.
The Monmouth-Roseville Titans will look to keep things rolling tonight as they make another long road trip to take on Mendota.
The Titans improved to 2-3 last week with a 32-14 win over Spring Valley Hall. Monmouth-Roseville made some big plays when they needed them and pulled away in the second half for the 32-14 win.
Now the Titans have a chance to get back to .500 with four games remaining in the regular season. Head Coach Jeremy Adolphson says tonight is a big one.
“I told the guys yesterday, I said the only thing you can’t be anymore is undefeated. There’s an opportunity to get back to every other goal that we had during the regular season. So, it’s going to be a big one. I think it’s going to be a very, very difficult game. It’s going to come down probably a few plays, even if the score doesn’t appear to be that way.”
Monmouth-Roseville will look to make it back-to-back wins tonight and get back to .500 with a win over Mendota.
Both games are scheduled for 7 PM. United at Rushville-Industry can be heard on WRAM AM 1330 and FM 95.7, while Monmouth-Roseville at Mendota can be heard on Sunny 97.7 WMOI. Both games will also be available online at radiomonmouth.com, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30.
