When it comes to prostate cancer screenings, taking the first step can be as simple as scheduling a blood test, according to McDonough District Hospital Vice President of Business Strategy Pat Osterman:

“You can have a blood test done. Say you are getting your annual physical, part of that is getting your blood lab work done. They can also test for that as well. That is a good start. Also, if you have an appointment with your urology doctor or you need to make an appointment, ask them about it.”

Prostate Cancer Awareness Month is observed every September.
