Gerald “Gerry” L. Armstrong, 74, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 6, 1948 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Leroy and Betty (Linder) Armstrong.  Gerry was raised and educated in Cameron and graduated from Warren High School in 1966. 

Gerry proudly served in the United States Army from 1966-1970.

He married Cheryl Carlson on June 3, 2000 in Monmouth, IL; she survives. 

Gerry worked for over 25 years at IMI Cornelius in Monmouth.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to the casino. 

Surviving Gerry is his wife, Cheryl Armstrong of Monmouth, IL; his children, Brian Armstrong, Robert (Carrie) Armstrong, Melissa Armstrong; his step son, John (Nathan Melton) Armstrong; his grandchildren, Aiden, Brady, Jaxon, Emily, Lilly, Ian; and his siblings, Ann (Roger) Benson, Larry (Kathy) Armstrong, Jim Armstrong.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.  Per Gerry’s wishes, no visitation or services are planned at this time.  Memorials can be made to OSF Hospice and sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
