Lyndon D. Sauter, age 67, of Matherville, Illinois; passed away at his residence on Tuesday January 17, 2023 at 1:35 pm. Lyndon was born on October 28, 1955 in Galesburg, Illinois and is the son of Rodney Gene and Margaret Claudette Bellamy Sauter. Lyndon was raised in Galesburg where he attended local schools and graduated from Galesburg High School. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served from 1972 to 1978 serving in Okinawa Japan. While in the Marine Corp, Lyndon attained the rank of E4 as a Corporal. After returning to Galesburg from the service Lyndon was employed for a number of years by Burlington Northern Railroad as a conductor. He also later drove a cab in Galesburg for City Cab and later for Checker and United Cab Companies. Lyndon most recently has been actively interested in the Nature Conservancy.  He is survived by his daughter Rayne Miller of Monmouth, Illinois and his grandchildren, Denver and his wife Erin Strange, Jaidyn Miller, Summer Rayne Miller, Kaden, Kason, and Kaley Wagoner. Two great grandchildren also survive him, Peighton Strange and Xander Strange. Lyndon’s sisters survive, Alice and Cindy and his brother Scott is surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents, his wife Patricia Sauter, and his brother John. As were his wishes, Lyndon has been cremated and at present no services are being planned.
