As the JCC Senior Nutrition Program Grows, Executive Director Mowen Says Meal Congregate Sites Slowly Reopening

Share

As calls keep coming in, each day seniors on the waitlist for Jamieson Community Center’s Senior Nutrition Program get moved onto a route to receive meals. Meanwhile, congregate meal sites are slowly beginning to open back up, explains Executive Director Nancy Mowen:

“We have a congregate meal site open in Aledo at the Mercer County Senior Center. As soon as we have staff for our site manager positions, we will reopen the other sites after a long hiatus. We have been advertising those positions. They are part-time positions. It is about 15 hours a week. There is a requirement that people be able to take the Food Service Sanitation Manager training and pass the test that goes along with that. We will pay for the training, but people have to have the ability to pass the test.”

Site managers would be stationed at one or two of the meal congregate sites at Strom Center in Monmouth, the Kirkwood Senior Center, Oquawka, Stronghurst, Alexis, or Roseville.
