The United Red Storm baseball team finally got on the field for their first game action on Tuesday. The Red Storm got off to a great start, beating West Prairie 9-1 on the strength of a combined no-hitter from AJ Jenks and Tanner Rogers. This will be a new-look Red Storm team on the field this season. United graduated a plethora of senior starters from last year’s regional championship ballclub. Head coach Ryan Molek talked about their opening night win and his excitement of the challenge of putting together a new starting lineup on the WRAM Morning Show.
The Red Storm baseball squad have a schedule next week that will give them a good look at what they are going to need to do to be competitive in the Lincoln Trail Conference’s West Division. They start the week with an LTC divisional cross-over game at home against a solid ROWVA/Williamsfield ballclub on Monday, followed by a trip to Peoria Christian on Tuesday and a home game against Camp Point Central on Thursday.
