Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 5, 2023:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is sophomore wrestler, Caleb Dillard. After going (18-9) during the regular season and placing second in the IWCOA Fresh-Soph Morrison regional tournament, Caleb took part in the Sterling Fresh-Soph Sectional. He would go (3-1) in the tournament and qualify for the 2023 Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Official’s Association’s state final in Springfield.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is girls basketball players, junior Reece Bertelsen and sophomore Katie Flynn. Both girls were named to the Lincoln Trail Conference’s All-Conference Team. They were voted by LTC coaches to the Special Mention list. Better yet, they were both also named to the LTC’s All-Academic team, as well.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball players, junior Shelby Bowman and sophomore Harlee Hainds. Both girls were named to the Lincoln Trail Conference’s All-Conference Team. Shelby was a first-team selection and Harlee was named to the second team by a poll among the conference’s head coaches. More importantly, they were both also named to the LTC’s All-Academic team, as well.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is girls basketball players, senior Capre Ferguson and junior Kiarra Kilgore. Both girls were named to the Western Big Six Conference’s All-Conference Team. Among the many postseason awards earned already, Kiarra was named to the WB6’s first team, with Capre named to the Honorable Mention list. Kiarra led the conference in scoring and was 2nd in the league in rebounding. Capre was one of the conference assists leaders for the year.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is girls basketball players, seniors Brook Pieper and Lexi Hunter and sophomore Hailey Redding. All three girls were honored with Lincoln Trail Conference All-Conference selections in a poll of Lincoln Trail Conference head coaches. Brook was a first-team selection, with Lexi and Hailey second team selections. Brook was also named to the LTC’s All-Academic Team, as well.
