Stephen C. Wells, 81, of Kirkwood, IL, passed away at 5:55 am, Sunday, April 9, 2023 at home.

Stephen was born July 9, 1941 in Cairo, IL, the son of Lynneal and Dixie (King) Wells.  He was raised and educated in Carbondale, IL and he later graduated from East Moline High School.   

Stephen married Debra (Day) Huss on October 25, 1990 in Monmouth, IL; she survives.

Stephen worked for 32 years at Maytag in Galesburg.  After retiring, he kept busy flipping houses.  Stephen enjoyed camping, hiking, biking, stamp collecting, and woodworking.  He loved to travel.  Stephen was a Boy Scout and Youth Group Leader. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his bonus grandchildren.  He was an excellent husband and family man.

Surviving Stephen is his wife, Debra Wells of Kirkwood, IL, his bonus children, Nathan Huss, Jr. of Illinois, Aron Huss of Utah, Sarah (Kris) Brant of South Carolina; his bonus grandchildren, Nathan Huss III, Raven Huss, Holden Brant; his siblings, Terry (Jeri) Wells of Missouri, Dixie (Paul) Restivo of Tennessee, Lynda (Ray) Smith of California, Elena Diane (Larry) Smith of Indiana, and Doug Wells of Illinois.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  No visitation or services are planned at this time. Memorials may be given to the Stephen Wells Memorial Fund.
