Leo Nathan Varela, infant son of Alejandro and Megan Varela was born a quiet birth at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Leo is survived by his loving parents, Alejandro and Megan Allison (Lee) Varela of Galesburg; paternal grandparents, Juana and Jorge Cabrera of Phoenix, Arizona; maternal grandparents, Tim and Michele Lee of Richton Park, Illinois; paternal great grandfather, Ramon (the late Martina) Varela of Mexico; and maternal great grandparents, George (Alice) Long of Frankfort, Illinois and Jim (the late Shirley) Justus of Elvaston, Illinois. Leo is also survived by his aunts, Yeraldy Cabrera, Melanie Lee, and Hannah (Manuel) Orellana; and uncles, Martin Varela, Luis Varela, and Jorge Cabrera, Jr.

Cremation will be accorded and no public services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
