Surveillance cameras are becoming more and more prominent at businesses and homes in our area. The video from these surveillance cameras have assisted the Burlington Police Department in the detection of criminal activity and the identification and apprehension of the criminals involved.

On May 13, 2023 at 12:25pm officers with the Burlington Police Department Patrol Division responded to 123 S. 3rd Street when the business owner observed someone inside the building on their surveillance cameras. Officers located forced entry to the building where they believe the entry had been gained. Officers conducted a search of the building and located an individual, later identified as Cheyenne John Stone, 41, hiding in the basement of the building. Stone did not have permission from the owner to be inside the building. Officers located pry bars, a saw and a set of hedge trimmers in the area where Stone was hiding and near the door where entry was made into the building. Stone was arrested and charged with burglary 3rd and possession of burglar tools.
