Monmouth City Council Approves Solar Energy System Regulations Ordinance

Share

Monmouth City Council has approved an ordinance that added solar energy system regulations, covering both residential and commercial projects, explains Mayor Rod Davies:

“There are references to several building codes and requirements of how much of the roof can be covered and access required by repair and maintenance of any rooftop mounted heating or air conditioning on a commercial structure. Also, fire access to the roof and various cutoffs. We have these new requirements in place. We have had a lot of interest or inquiries in solar projects, both residential and commercial. As you might recall, there was a project that was approved by council last month for a solar project at the Warren County YMCA. We have also had some inquiry by the Monmouth-Roseville School District.”

Mayor Davies informs regulations were based off those already in place with various building and plumbing codes, as well as codes set by Ameren when connecting to the grid.
