OSF Bereavement Services There for Support on Your Grief Journey

Share

Grief is a natural process. The OSF Hospice pastoral care and bereavement services offer patients and family members companionship and true understanding throughout the entire process, explains Bereavement Coordinator for Hospice in the Western Region Kevin Morrison:

“If they choose OSF Hospice, we contact them and set them up and explain all the different services we have; like volunteer persons, a coordinator will set up somebody to go and visit them for support and companionship, our nurse of course, and pastoral care, and a medical social worker, will all be involved in the total patient care and family support. We tell them that after a loved one passes, we stay in contact with you for thirteen months and beyond, depends on their needs. I don’t just drop someone at thirteen months, that is the minimum contact we have with people.”

A grief counseling and support group meets on Thursdays at 3 pm in the Home Health Office in Galesburg, located in front of Saint Mary’s Medical Center.
