Roseville Farmer Wraps Up Planting After High Winds Slow Them Down

Share

Farmers going out to the field this week to plant their corn and soybeans were met with high wind speeds. For Roseville farmer Mike Moore, the wind did cause some problems as he worked to wrap up planting.

“The high winds that we had were just causing all kinds of issues on our planter was sensors and seat tube sensors and the dust blowing back up in there,” said Moore. “I thought I had a row unit going out but come to find out it was just the wind-blown backup causing all kinds of problems.”

The Moores have always been mindful of conservation but are always interested to learn what else they can do.

“I’ve been watching just so much wind erosion on the tilled ground. Then you look at the no-till ground and nothing is blowing on it,” said Moore. “So whether we go all no-till on every acre or incorporate some cover crops, that’s something that I’m I’m interested in and looking to see if that’s something we can add to our farming practices.”
