As a nonprofit, Western Illinois Animal Rescue is run solely on donations and volunteers donating their time, which Treasurer Jan Helms informs they are always on the lookout for, but not only caring for the animals:
“We not only need volunteers for working with our furbabies, we would also like to enlist volunteers for fundraising. If you have some fundraising ideas to help us plan and coordinate events as well as assisting us with the events. Our staff is small but mighty. We could use some help. Also, we have a memorial garden out there, I;m not sure if everyone knows. We need some volunteers to tend to our memorial garden to keep it looking great to provide us a location to honor loved ones and pets, we have both out there. You can buy a brick and honor them in our memorial garden.”
In honor of National Pet Week, now through the end of May, adult cats up for adoption at Western Illinois Animal Rescue are available for $25 with an approved application. Stop by Tuesdays through Fridays 11 am to 4 pm, with other times available by appointment.
