Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter Sharing God’s Love to All Who Seek Assistance

Share

The Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter was established in 1941 to proclaim the good news of a free eternal salvation, while also providing shelter, food, and clothing to men and women in need. Executive Director Darrell Grimm shares their goal setting process for individuals that utilize their facility:

“When they come in, a lot of them don’t have identification cards, they don’t have anything like that, so we go through the process of helping them get their ID card. We set goals for these guys and the women. Then after that we set a goal of them getting a job. We have several services in Galesburg that they can go to, placement services, and they can find out if there is a job there that fits them. Hopefully they get a job, they get stable, they start making money, they open a bank account, and then our next step is to try and get them into an apartment. We work through the Knox County Housing Authority. Our goal is six months to try to get them to do this because if they can do that in six months, they have accomplished a lot and gives them that feeling of accomplishment.”

On Saturday, June 17th, the Galesburg Rescue Mission will be hosting a pancake breakfast and Fill the Van Food Drive. For more upcoming events and services, visit Galesburg Rescue Mission – Home.
