Last week, scattered to isolated showers were seen in areas of western Illinois and southeastern Iowa, leaving some areas without the needed precipitation. WQAD Chief Meteorologist James Zahara said there is a backdoor cool front that is making its way through the region on Tuesday, which could spark isolated showers and thunderstorms in the area.
“It’s going to bring some refreshing temperatures, which will be rather nice. In fact, we may be talking about low to mid-80s briefly starting on Tuesday,” said Zahara. “But, unfortunately, I think our next best bet, just looking at the forecasts and the models the past few days is maybe the weekend. We are going to be dealing with a strong front that is going to be coming down out of Canada. Given the moisture that will eventually build up again- possibly either Saturday or especially Sunday, we could get a nice rain.”
Zahara added that after the weekend, the temperatures will cool off but it will continue to be dry.
