Nola Marie Talbott, age 82, of Media, Illinois, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday July 18, 2023 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.  She was born January 1, 1941 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Lewis and Hazel Leinbach Bigger.  On September 3, 1961, she married Leslie Talbott in Biggsville, Illinois.  He preceded her in death.

Nola was a bus driver for 43 years for the former Southern Schools of Stronghurst, and retired from the current West Central School near Biggsville.  Earlier, she had worked at Mississippi Valley Bakery in Burlington, Iowa, and was Secretary for Biggsville High School for a few years.

Nola was a graduate of Biggsville High School, and a member of the Media United Presbyterian Church.  More recently, she attended the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.  She was an avid sports fan and a strong supporter of the local school’s athletics, as well as the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.

Nola was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her immediate and extended families, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.

Survivors include two daughters: Tammy (Mike) Martin of Moline, IL, Chris (Frank) Lung of Media, IL, son in law: Bryan Hubbard of Stronghurst, five grandchildren: Morgan (Austin) Lewis, Abby Hubbard, James Martin, Taylor Martin, and Frankie Lung, and two great grandchildren: Evie and Kingsley Lewis.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter: Pam Hubbard, three brothers: Reldon, Gale, and James Bigger, one sister: Jenny Lundvall, and a special “daughter”: Ann Hicke.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Rev. Jordan Knight officiating.  Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, near Stronghurst.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials have been established for Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab of Stronghurst, and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.  Please visit Nola’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to leave a condolence.
