2023 Banking on a Cure Golf Outing Raises Record $13,500 for American Cancer Society Mission

At the 7th Annual Banking on a Cure Golf Outing at Gibson Woods Golf Course this past June, another successful year was celebrated as a record setting $13,500 was donated to the mission of the American Cancer Society, which Senior Development Manager Stacey Dutton explains how the funds benefit locally:

“We are all aware of the importance of cancer research because no matter where the research is taking place, all of us in our community benefit from that, whether it is a new treatment for a certain type of cancer, whether it is medicine to help patients get through the side effects of their cancer, or if it is research to find a new screening or new indicators to where we can find cancer early. We also provide free services in Warren and Henderson Counties. If someone needs a ride to treatment, our Road to Recovery program is a volunteer who will pick up a patient, take them to treatment, and then delivery them safely back at home. If you have to leave the area for treatment, we have Hope Lodges by most of our large treatment facilities. That is a place where a survivor and a caregiver can stay for free and they have their own living space, kitchen space, and it is a large community within the Hope Lodge of other patients and their caregivers, so it is also a good community support within.”

Information, answers, and hope is available 24/7 from the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345.
