Edward Richard Kunkle, 85, of Knoxville, Illinois, died Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Home.

Richard was born September 21, 1937 at home in Wataga, Illinois, the son of George H. and Dorothy Louise (Steele) Kunkle. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1955. Richard was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Zimmerman on June 18, 1960 in Wataga, Illinois. He retired as a carman from Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad in 1999 with over 43 years of service.

Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia of Knoxville; and two sons, Richard (Rhonda) Kunkle, Jr. of Prairie City, Illinois and Randy (Carla) Kunkle of Republic, Missouri; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Pat Scott of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
