Section 8 Voucher Program Through Warren County Housing Authority Offers Local Rent Assistance

Share

The Warren County Housing Authority offers income based quality and efficient housing in Monmouth, Roseville, and Kirkwood with 274 available units. With a current 96 to 97% occupancy, Executive Director Hank Shimmin explains the Section 8 Voucher program that is also available for private rentals:

“Folks can apply for a voucher and they can already have a place they are renting or maybe they need to find a new place to rent. Once they apply and get the voucher, then they will let us know where they want to rent and we check it out, and approve it. That is assistance for private rentals that a lot of people don’t know about. It is a great program for renters. It is a great program for the landlords also. We have 85 vouchers, approximately $30,000 per month or $360,000 annually that we are subsidizing rent, helping out folks with private landlords.”
