Mr. Ronald L. Swanson, 85, of Galesburg passed away at 12:36 am Friday, November 3, 2023, at Seminary Manor.

Ron was born November 11, 1937, in Galesburg, the son of John Maynard and Bernice L. (Wilfong) Swanson. He married Mary C. Delost on March 7, 1959, at First Lutheran Church.

Ron is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; his daughters, Pam (Jeff) Mangieri, Patty (John) Gustafson and Penny Swanson-Redfern all of Galesburg; his sister, Sherrie (Bruce) Gray of Woodstock, Georgia; two grandchildren, Travis Gustafson and Tracy (Erik) vanApeldoorn; nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Duane Stomberg.

Ron graduated from Galesburg High School in 1955 and attended Western Illinois University. He worked for Admiral/Maytag Corporation in Human Resources for 42 years, retiring in 1999. He was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church. Ron loved spending time traveling with his family on vacation. He also enjoyed metal detecting and found many unique treasures.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30 am Friday, November 10, 2023, at First Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 am at the church with Rev. Dr. Pamela Marolla officiating. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
