Jean Louise Musolf, age 80, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023. Born on October 19, 1943, in Pemberville, Ohio, Jean was a beacon of kindness in the lives of all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of James Walter Musolf, whom she married on August 15, 1965 in Pemberville, Ohio who will miss her deeply. Other cherished members of her family include her late parents, Alfred and Dorothy (Hermann) Sander, her nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Darlene Sander of Stony Ridge, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her devoted brother, James Sander.

Jean’s passion for music was evident from her youth leading to a degree in choir and instrumental music from Bowling Green State University. With grace and enthusiasm, Jean taught instrumental music in Monroe, Michigan, for three rewarding years. She then moved on to share her talents in the world of finance and health care, serving as a pillar of support and organization at Fidelity Federal Bank in Galesburg. Her esteemed work history also included dedicated service at Henry Hill Correctional Center and Zeller Mental Health Center, before culminating in thirteen admirable years as an administrator at Trinity Lutheran Church.

A deeply religious soul, Jean was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she combined her faith and musical gift by singing in the choir and occasionally playing the organ. Prior to this, she enriched the First Christian Church with her role as a talented soloist and musical director of the junior choir. Jean’s love of music was complemented by a love of travel, which she indulged in alongside her beloved husband, Jim. While Jean and Jim did not have children of their own, they opened their hearts to the children of their congregation, nurturing and loving them as if they were their own.

Jean’s gentle and faith-filled spirit shone brightly throughout her life as she found joy in her furry companions, especially her cherished cocker spaniels. Her loving personality, coupled with an unwavering kindness, left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate to cross her path.

Jean Louise Musolf will be remembered for her sweet demeanor, her soothing voice, and her capacity to love without bounds. Her melodies will continue to echo in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy will live on through the harmonious blend of music and love that was her life’s work.

Memorial visitation and funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will start at 10:00 am followed by an 11:00 am service and luncheon. Pastor Carrie Carnes will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or Trinity Lutheran Church.
