Monmouth’s Communications Director Ken Helms Reminds Residents Not to Call 911 to See if Power is Out

Share

With the recent experienced power outages, City of Monmouth Communications Director Ken Helms reminds residents of waiting or not calling emergency services just to check if the power is out across the area:

“If the power goes out, please wait or do not call Public Safety to ask if the power is out across the way. We only have a couple of dispatchers that are working the shifts at a time. When we start getting phone calls after phone calls after phone calls if the power is out, it is taking away the resources that we have to answer those phone calls when there is an auto accident or fire or something like that. We are still going to provide you that information, but we do have limited resources and that very much ties it up.”

If there is an emergency and the need for assistance is required, call 911.
