Mrs. Florence R. Murk, 100, of Galesburg, Illinois died 3:42 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Woodridge Supportive Living Center in Galesburg.

She was born April 16, 1923, in rural Avon, Illinois to Otis E. and Katherine May (McMahill) Zuck. She married Edwin H. Murk on October 26, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death March 12, 2004.

Surviving is a son, Rodney (and Julia) Murk of Edelstein, Illinois, a daughter, Rebecca Goss of Galesburg, a son-in-law, Donald Adams of North Henderson, Illinois, a brother, Delbert Zuck of Galesburg, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Barbara Adams, a brother, Ivan Zuck, a sister, Eileen Vorhees, and a son-in-law, Jerry Goss.

Florence attended school in both London Mills, Illinois and Avon, Illinois. She worked for the former Blue Bell Factory and the American Sanitary Factory in Abingdon, Illinois. She later worked as an assembler for the former Outboard Marine Corporation, Gale Products Division in Galesburg from 1956 to 1984. She was a former member of the First Church of God in Galesburg. She was an avid reader, enjoyed painting porcelain and china and loved playing Bingo. Florence was an avid sports fan and liked to watch the Big 10 Conference games. In football, she liked Nebraska and in basketball, she liked Wisconsin. Florence and Edwin loved to dance. After retirement, they would spend the winter in Texas and were voted King and Queen of the Grapefruit Festival in Mission, Texas.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the chapel. Rev. David Pyell will officiate. A private family burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg.
