Janet I. Parrish, age 79, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Oquawka, passed away at 8:09 AM on Monday, March 11, 2024 at her residence. She was born August 18, 1944 in Oquawka, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph Vincent (Tissy) and Dorothy Marie (Simpson) McOlgan. Janet was raised in Oquawka and attended school there. On December 16, 1960, she married James Lee Parrish in Stronghurst, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2012.

Over the span of her life, Janet held several jobs, but most important to her was being a homemaker. She liked to golf and be on the water in their pontoon boat. Mostly, she loved being with her family and grandchildren.

Janet is survived by two sons, Chad (Theresa) Parrish of Gladstone, IL and Shawn (Debbie) Parrish of Galesburg, IL, one sister, Mary Forshe of Arkansas, two brothers, Jerry (Carol) McOlgan of Mississippi and Jim (Latisha) McOlgan of South Carolina. She is also survived by two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and three step-granddaughters. Janet is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, brother Don McOlgan, and her niece, Kim Fish.

A graveside service is planned for 11:00 AM on Monday, March 18, 2024 in the Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka, Illinois.
