Local man facing attempted murder charges

On Thursday March 14th at 3:41pm Deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched along with GHAS and Abingdon First Responders to the 100 block of East Martin Street in Abingdon for a report of a 42 year old male who appeared to be unconscious and bleeding from the head.

Deputies arrived on scene and began CPR on the victim. The victim was treated by Abingdon First Responders and GHAS. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center Emergency Room where he remains in critical condition.

Deputies immediately identified the suspect as Adam German a 44 year old male from Abingdon. Deputies began to search the area for the suspect, locating German hiding in a shed in an adjacent property. German was immediately taken into custody without incident.

Adam German was charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Domestic Battery.

German is currently being held at the Knox County Jail on his charges.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Illinois State Police Crime

The investigation revealed both German and the victim reside at the location of the incident and were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical.

Any persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
