Patricia A. ‘Patsy” O’Brien, 85, of Alexis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, IL.

Patsy was born on February 10, 1939 in Scotland County, MO, the daughter of Homer and Cleota (Allison) Mullinix.  Patsy was raised and educated in Scotland Co, MO and Alexis, IL, she attended Alexis High School, receiving her GED in 1968. 

Patsy married Wilfred “Bill” Eugene O’Brien on September 10, 1955 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Alexis, IL.  He preceded her in death on May 27, 2019.

Patsy was a homemaker and she loved taking care of her family. She worked as a waitress and cook at the B&B Café in Alexis, IL.  Patsy provided child care in Alexis for several years.  She also worked as a Customer Service Representative at Farmers State Bank of Western Illinois in Alexis.  Patsy enjoyed reading and sewing.  She was a member and treasurer of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Alexis. 

Surviving is one son, Donald E. (Karen) O’Brien of Peoria, IL; two daughters, Stormy L. (Danny) Steinbrook of St. Louis, MO, Michelle A. (Terry) Cameron of Alexis; her grandchildren, Jenifer A. (Trent) Simkins, Jeremy M. O’Brien, Joseph M. Shepherd, Matthew R. (Maranda) Shepherd, and Wayne A. O’Brien; and three great granddaughters, Brea Simkins, Kealy (Carter) Stewart and Hattie Shepherd; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one brother, Raymond Mullinix, and her sister, Peggy Middleton.

A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Alexis, IL.  Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a Rosary Service beginning at 4:30 pm at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be given to the Cardinal Manor in Alexis and sent to the funeral home.
