Phase 2 of West Harlem Water Main Replacement to Begin This Year

Share

While phase one of the water main replacement on West Harlem Avenue is complete, the hope is for phase two, which will replace the water main from G Street to the bypass around Monmouth, to begin later this year with road reconstruction to happen next year, explains Mayor Rod Davies:

“We hope it gets released again to go this year. We will be replacing the gravel with blacktop as soon as the blacktop plants open to get it back to be a little smoother until we get through and finally get the approval and get this project under way. We will probably be constructing a water plant on the land we have available there along Harlem so in order to do that, we had to have that new infrastructure in place to allow that water plant to get through the distribution system the way it needs to. There are all phases and components to this stuff we are doing and it all leads to greater supply, greater reliability for both industry and public safety and consumer use.”

City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher informs a lot of the water main replacement and road reconstruction projects are being funded by state and federal grants, along with leveraged grants and funds secured from the sale of the transfer station to LRS.
