On Saturday, May 4th, the 51st Annual Western Illinois Special Olympics Track and Field Spring Games will be held at Sunny Lane Field in Monmouth. Director Cathy Betar shares the day does not come together without the help of the wonderful volunteers:

“Come out and volunteer for us on Saturday May 4th. We do have a website they you can go to and sign up on, you can call me at the office at 309-734-5903, or email me at cbetar@soill.org. You can come out and help with everything from packing lunches, help serve lunches to the athletes, to actually working the track events. We need timers and judges and heat escorts, which take the athletes from the finish line over to get their awards and hook them back up with their coach or parents. Softball throw, tennis ball throw, and our javelin throw, we need young kids to get out there and run around and chase those items when they are done. Just come on out, we have a job for you to do.”

350 athletes from Region F, which covers ten counties in Western Illinois, will be competing throughout the day.
