United Red Storm Baseball Gearing Up for the LTC West Division Stretch Run

Share

Story by Kadin Rogers

The United Red Storm baseball team has played a decent baseball in the games they have been able to get in within the past week. Last Friday, United got a 14-2 road win over Rock Island Alleman, before heading to Kewanee on Tuesday, capturing a 6-5 win over the Boilermakers. The Red Storm’s most recent contest was a 7-0 loss to LVC on Wednesday. That same LVC was an undefeated 18-0 before taking a loss to Illini Bluffs on Thursday.

United now turns their attention to an important Lincoln Trail Conference doubleheader scheduled for Saturday against Mercer County. Both the Red Storm and Golden Eagles are currently in the hunt for an LTC title, with MerCo sitting at 5-1 in the conference and United at 3-1. Rainy weather is expected to impact the area all weekend, which is why Head Coach Ryan Molek says the team has been doing preemptive work to make sure the diamond at United High School is ready, if the weather holds up between now and Saturday.

If Saturday’s doubleheader gets played, we will have game one on the Prairie Communications Sports Network on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM and radiomonmouth, with pregame show coverage beginning at 10:45.
