Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 21, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior track sprinter, Jekxel Rivera. Jekxel won three individual events and was a part of a victorious relay team at the Macomb Bomber Invitational. He crossed the finish line first in the 100, 200 and 400 meter races and ran the anchor leg on the Titan’s winning 4×100 relay teams. Jekxel also garnered a first place in the 400 meter race at the Rockridge Invite, as well.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior track and field athlete, Hunter Hall. Hunter won the 800 meter race at the highly competitive Rockridge Rocket Invitational. In a meet that included bigger class 2A schools, he won the race by nearly five seconds over the runnerup.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior track and field athlete, Isiah Stephson. Isiah won the long jump event at the annual Muggs McGinnis Meet in Bushnell. His leap of 18’8″ edged out his teammate, Aiden Garner, for a 1-2 finish for the Heat. Isiah also ran a leg on the 4×100 meter coed relay team that placed 3rd.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is boys tennis players, senior Braden Wallace and junior Jackson Archer. Braden and Jackson placed 4th at the Galesburg Silver Streak Invitational. The two convincingly won their first match 6-2, 6-2 before losing to the eventual champs in the semifinals. Braden and Jackson nearly bounced back to capture 3rd place but fell 8-4.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore baseball player, Evan Hook. Evan had a big hand in three Tornado wins last week. Out 12 plate appearances, he was on base nine times and ended up scoring on five of those. Evan also showed his speed, stealing five bases for the week.
