Monmouth-Roseville, United with Different Goals in Week 3 Football Matchups

Share

Week 3 of the IHSA football season is upon us. We’ll have two important games on the PCSN tonight. Monmouth-Roseville is off to a great start to the season at (2-0). The Titans have averaged 55 points in their two wins over Mercer County and Orion. Even more impressive, the Titans have yet to complete a pass from scrimmage, rushing for an average of 399 yards a game. That ground attack has been led by senior Payton Thompson’s 392 total yards and six touchdowns through just 6 quarters of action. Thompson had 233 yards and four touchdowns in the first half alone last week at Orion, where the Titans led 53-12 at the halftime break. Head coach Jeremy Adolphson says the guys up front have been the main reason for running the ball effectively.

The Titans welcome the Kewanee Boilermakers to Coach Dobry Field on Friday. Kewanee is (1-1) on the season, losing to Erie-Prophetstown 13-6 in week one and holding off Riverdale 27-18 in week two. You can hear this game on Sunny 97.7 WMOI with the pregame show at 6:35, kickoff at 7:00.

The United Red Storm have started the season (0-2) with losses to the new team in the LincolLand football conference Bureau Valley in week one and then a physical Rushville-Industry squad 18-6 in week two. The Red Storm hit the road for their week 3 matchup against ROWVA/Williamsfield trying to build momentum for first year year head Andrew Goodwin. The Cougars are coming off a (9-3) season last year under head coach Grant Gullstrand, making a postseason run all the way to the quarterfinals. ROWVA/Williamsfield has began their 2024 campaign right where 2023 left off, beating Havana and the LVC co-op. Coach Goodwin said he’s fully prepared for a good Cougar ballclub.

You can hear this game on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM with the pregame show at 6:35, kickoff is set for 7:00.

Both games can also be heard online at radiomonmouth.com or on our free 97.7 WMOI and 1330 WRAM apps for your smartphone or tablet. Take a pair of headphones and listen right from the bleachers.
