The pharmacy on the McDonough District Hospital campus in Macomb is nearly complete. Director of Community Pharmacy Nicole Dziuba explains the one-on-one services that will be available for patients:

“Everyone who comes into the pharmacy will be counseled on their prescriptions, but one service that I am super excited about is our ‘brown bag’ service. We are really going to be encouraging patients to bring every medication that they have at home, so that includes all their vitamins, all their supplements, over the counter medications like Advil, aspirin, things like that; bring everything into the pharmacy, including your prescriptions, and really sit down with a pharmacist and really discuss all of those things. There is a lot of interactions that happen with a lot of the over-the-counter items that people take at home, and they are not getting the opportunity when they are at their doctor’s office to kind of sit down and have those discussions, so that is something that we want to offer to patients. That will be completely free of charge. We really just care about patients and the quality of care and the convenience as well. We are going to have free delivery, so we can deliver to their homes, about 60 miles out, but if someone is beyond that border, we are going to try our absolute best to make that work with our schedule. That is super important, especially in this area.”

The McDonough District Hospital pharmacy is expected to open in January of 2025.
