Kathryn M. “Katie” Parker, 92, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on January 3, 2025 at Monmouth Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Katie was born on February 22, 1932 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Harry E., Sr and Clara Marie (Travis)Talley.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth. 

She married Marion C. Parker on August 20, 1955, they later divorced. 

Katie worked at Giant Foods for 28 years in Monmouth.  She later worked at Willitts School in the lunch room until her retirement.  Katie enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles, lottery tickets, and making candy for friends and family. She was a proud supporter of the local Dairy Queen, enjoying her daily Butterfinger Blizzards. She was an avid bowler and played on a bowling league for several years.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Katie was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. 

Surviving Katie are her daughters, Peggy (Phil) Brown of Riverton, IL,  Mary Kay (Ron) Hamell of Indianola, IA,; her grandchildren, Bryon (Shannon) Brown of Austin, TX, Morgan (Josh) Chambers of Indianola, IA; her step-grandchildren, Jason (Luna) Brown of San Diego, CA, Patrick Brown of San Diego, CA, Wendy (Chad) Cline of Carlise, IA, Dustin Hamell of Carlise, IA, Jessica Hamell of Altoona, IA; her great-grandchildren, Pierson Brown, Weston Brown, Britton Brown; her step great-grandchildren,  Elaine Brown, Chase Cline, Ayla Cline, Maxton Hamell.  Also surviving is her sister, Dixie Reimolds of Monmouth, IL; one brother, William (Arletha) Talley of Monmouth, IL; two sisters-in-law, Lois Talley of FL, Joyce Talley of Marion, IA; special family members, Judy Slater of Monmouth, IL, Sandy Mullen of Monmouth, IL; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Jim Talley, John Talley, Jerry Talley, Melvin Talley, Harry Talley, Jr., Donna Sheese, Mary Ann Cole; and her heavenly great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to Hospice Compassus and can be sent to the funeral home.
