Encompassing Monmouth, Galesburg, and Kewanee, OSF HealthCare is now branding the market as the West Central Illinois Market, taking a regionalization approach to healthcare, explains President of OSF St. Mary Medical Center and Holy Family Lisa DeKezel:
“When you think about the sustainability of just various industries and certainly with healthcare, it really allows us to right services, right locations, and it helps us to best utilize our resources and our investments to serve the needs of our community. No longer can we be all things to all people in every space. When you think about available resources, whether it is people, equipment, investment; that really is not feasible across multiple industries, so really looking at what you can do very well in each of your locations and work as a team across that market to provide those services is really crucial to the sustainability for healthcare long term, especially in our rural communities,” states DeKezel.
“Galesburg and Monmouth in particular, are really the role model for that system of care across the market. We have seen just incredible growth in Monmouth at Holy Family as a result. It has helped support us to stand St. Mary’s up as that true intermediate level hub,”DeKezel adds.
DeKezel informs OSF HealthCare is in the process of securing a second CT at St. Mary Medical Center and also a new machine for Holy Family, plus the relocation of offered sleep lab services to Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.
