It’s that time of the year where respiratory illnesses start to settle in. OSF HealthCare Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Angela Taylor informs the common cold, and allergies are the two big ones right now:
“We are starting to see some viruses go around. We have seen a few cases of COVID. I have not seen any influenza yet, so that is good that is still holding off, so we still have our time where it is important to get your vaccine for influenza. We are seeing the common cold and a lot of allergies.”
Symptoms of respiratory illnesses can overlap, but Taylor reports the biggest red flag is shortness of breath, which is most commonly associated with COVID-19 or RSV, not the flu, common cold, or allergies.
