As the official start of winter creeps closer, Monmouth Firefighter Connor Talbot reminds motorists of putting together an emergency kit for your vehicle and stay home if possible:
“If there is a snow emergency, stay home, unless you absolutely have to leave. If we have to come out in it, that poses a risk for the fire department just as much as it does you. Always have blankets, phones, and make sure that phone is charged if you have to go out in the weather. If there is a storm coming, try to make sure you fill up you tank so if you happen to get stuck you can at least keep the car running to stay warm until someone can get there and help you out.”
Additional items to place in your vehicle during the winter months, additional clothing items to stay warm, water, and snacks in case you are stranded for an extended period in the inclement weather.
