Phase one of the multi-phase lead service line replacement project across the City of Monmouth is nearing completion. Mayor Rod Davies informs the City has entered engineering agreements with Woodard and Curran for the next two phases of the lead service line replacement:

“Thanks to their help, we got just over a $3 million grant from the State Revolving Loan Fund and most of that will be forgiven, just like the first one was. The balance that we do have to pay off will be at a zero percent loan over 40 years, so that helps us manage that. The engineering was $250,000 for that just over $3 million phase. Our second one was the $960,000 we got from Congressman Sorensen. That part of the project will also be worked on this next time. The engineering agreement for that was $90,000.”

It is estimated there are around 3,000 affected lines throughout Monmouth that will be replaced over the next couple of years through this lead service line project.
