As part of its’ celebrations to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Warren County, the Warren County Historical Society is beginning an oral history project to preserve stories about the early settlers in the county and to encourage senior residents of the county to share memories about their families and what it was like to live in the county years ago.

The Warren County Bicentennial Oral History Project is modeled on StoryCorps, a non-profit organization founded in 2003, which has recorded the conversations of about 700,000 Americans. These recording are preserved in the U.S. Library of Congress and in an online archive.

The Warren County Historical Society plans to record the conversations of residents and preserve them as both video files and transcripts, which can be used in the future by the society to create exhibits in its’ museum and by historians in their scholarly research.

If you are interest in being interviews for this project or know someone who should be, please email the Historical Society at director@wchistorymuseum.com or call 309-734-8433.
