From infrastructure upgrades, business expansions, and new businesses opening in the Galesburg community, the workforce industry has grown, reports Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer:

“Any business in that sector is going to be drawn by job growth, is going to be drawn to median income, and is going to be drawn to population density. I think that what we are seeing on the industrial side and what we are seeing on the healthcare side, that growth is reinforcing our community’s value to retail brands and service providers. The two move hand in hand. I have said for a long time that communities don’t generally need to go specifically after retail, you don’t need to go out and recruit a lot of retail in because if you are doing your job and are seeing core industry growth, the retail is going to find you and I think that is what we are seeing in this region.”

Looking into 2026, Springer informs the Logistics Park project and addressing housing concerns are major focuses for the City of Galesburg.
