A health expert is warning not to feed your pet dogs some of the foods that come around this time of year for the holidays. Doctor Brian Collins, with the Cornell Canine Health Center tells the Farmer’s Dog Digest that a lot of holiday meals have butter, sugar, salt, and other seasonings which can be dangerous for dogs. He is urging folks to avoid giving dogs onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, currants, and chocolate because they are toxic and to call your vet or pet poison helpline if your dog does get a hold of any of those foods. It’s recommended an unseasoned lean cooked turkey is much better for a dog than a honey-glazed or smoked ham.
