Jamieson Community Center Sees Record Demand in 2025

All of us at Prairie Communications would like to thank everyone who took part in the recent Freezing for Food event. While the support from the community has been amazing, the fight against food insecurity is far from over. The Jamieson Community Center continues to see record demand, serving more families than ever before.

Executive Director Nancy Mowen says many of the families relying on the pantry are doing everything they can, but rising costs are making it harder to keep up.

“For most of the families, we have some that get SNAP assistance, but their SNAP assistance is very small amounts, only $50. Fifty dollars doesn’t buy a whole lot at the grocery store. Most of our families are working families. We have seniors who use the pantry. We’ve now served 1,004 families in 2026. So grateful to our community for their support in our mission and helping their neighbors.”

Mowen says community support remains critical as Jamieson works to meet the growing needs of families and seniors across the area.
